Custom Packaging at 200 Pieces: Where to Spend First

A practical way to compare structure, print and packing costs before your first custom packaging order.

Start with the filled product

Measure the actual product, including caps, wrapping and accessories. A smaller box is useful only if it still protects the contents and can be packed consistently. Send internal dimensions with units and filled weight.

Separate setup cost from unit cost

Ask for printing setup, tooling, samples, inserts, outer cartons and freight as distinct quotation items. Compare the same construction and delivery basis at each quantity. A low unit price alone does not describe your landed cost.

Choose one element to make distinctive

At a starting quantity of 200 pieces, ask whether a simpler board, one artwork version or a standard finish would suit the brief. Keep the feature that customers actually notice: fit, opening experience or a clear brand panel. Custom feasibility and price still need review.

Avoid ordering seasonal artwork too early

A reusable core design can be paired with a changeable sleeve or card. Confirm whether extra components create assembly work or separate minimum quantities. Estimate storage volume before increasing quantity.
